We know you’ve seen them those nasty black spots of chewed up gum either thrown or spit on the ground. Aside from making your community look dirty, they are full of germs and bacteria. Used chewing gum is well known for collecting dirt/dust and other foreign objects and will stick to almost anything it comes in contact with.
One of the main problems with improperly disposed chewing gum is that it becomes a permanent fixture on what ever surface it lands on. Chewing Gum Litter is non-biodegradable, which means it will be around for a long period of time. It will not dissolve over the years nor will it be sucked up by a vacuum. The wind won’t blow it away, you can't sweep it up into a trash can and nobody wants to pick it up with their fingers.
We here at Gumraps® believe people want to do the right thing when it comes to discarding used chewing gum, but it's all about convenience. The bottom line is there's no place designed specifically for used chewing gum. Even if you do find a trash can, you still have to pull the gum out from your mouth and throw it away. The problem is, you still have to pull the gum out of their mouth using your fingers. This causes the gum to stick to your fingers and block your shot to the trash can. So when you do pull the gum out of your mouth and try to throw the gum away, it ends up falling short outside of the trash can. Don’t believe us? Just look around any public trash can and you will see numerous black spots (chewed chewing gum) on the ground.
Spitting or throwing chewing gum on the ground or sticking it under a table/chair is classified as Litter and if you get caught, you can be given a hefty fine. Here in California, the Penal Code for throwing/spitting gum on the ground is 374.4(A) PC. Each city has their own Municipal Code (please contact your local city for codes and violations) and every country has their own codes and fines.
